Assistant Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach

Summary 

The Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of the girls' high school lacrosse program. This role is responsible for the development of student-athletes, both on and off the field, and for contributing to a positive, competitive, and respectful team culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the game, effective communication skills, and a passion for mentoring young women.

This position is part time serving the Frederick Gunn Community from March 2026 to June 2026. 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities 

  1. Assist in all aspects of the varsity girls lacrosse program, including training, practice planning, and game strategy
  2. Foster a program culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, character, and leadership
  3. Collaborate with Head Coach to identify, recruit, and yield mission-aligned student-athletes who will contribute to the school community
  4. Support student-athletes in their athletic and academic development, including the college recruitment process when applicable
  5. Execute program logistics

Qualifications 

  • Prior playing and/or coaching experience in lacrosse, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Strong understanding of lacrosse fundamentals, rules, and strategies, with the ability to teach and develop players of varying skill levels.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with student-athletes, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and character development.
  • Ability to support student-athletes in balancing academics, athletics, and personal growth.
  • Willingness to collaborate with the Head Coach and Athletics Department to align with school values and goals.
  • High level of integrity, dependability, and a passion for mentoring and developing young women.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel for practices, games, and team activities during the season.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
